Mary Jane Cummings joined Faraci Lange in 2013 with over 25 years of nursing experience in clinical, management and regulatory settings. She supports Faraci Lange attorneys who investigate and litigate defective medical device claims related to the metal-on-metal hip implants.
After receiving her RN Diploma from the Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo, NY, she pursued her clinical interest in Emergency Nursing. She was an Emergency Department triage nurse at the University of Rochester Medical Center from 1979 to 1986.
In 1987, she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester. She worked as a patient care investigator at the New York State Department of Health – Office of Health Systems Management. She investigated complaints of patient abuse, neglect and mistreatment in nursing homes. She also participated in Long Term Care Surveys to determine facility compliance with Federal and State regulations.
In 1999, Mary Jane received a law degree from the University of Akron School of Law in Akron, Ohio. She returned to Rochester and worked as an appeal officer at the Center for Health Dispute Management where she made reconsideration determinations in disputes between Medicare enrollees and Medicare managed care organizations. She later became a nurse manager at Monroe Community Hospital, Rochester, NY from 2002 – 2007.
