Kristin A. Merrick focuses her legal practice on personal injury litigation, including negligence matters, motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice and premise liability matters. She has extensive trial and advocacy experience.
Kristin received her B.A., cum laude, from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 2008 and received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 2011 where she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. Kristin also competed in the Law School’s Lionel O. Grossman Trial Competition and Mackenzie Hughes Appellate Advocacy Competition.
Prior to joining the firm, Kristin was an Assistant District Attorney for Monroe County. Working as a prosecutor she gained extensive court room experience independently conducting over thirty jury trials and hundreds of bench trials, hearings and motion arguments. She prosecuted various offenses including sex crimes, child abuse, assault and driving while intoxicated cases.
Kristin is a member of the American Association for Justice, New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Monroe County and New York State Bar Associations, and the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys.
In 2016, Kristin was chosen as an Up and Coming Attorney by the New York Daily Record. She has also been selected by her peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in the area of personal injury litigation.
In her spare time, Kristin enjoys volunteering. She is a member on the Young Lawyer’s Section Board of the Monroe County Bar Association and also serves as a Board Member for Homesteads for Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an inclusive community to serve transitioning young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Weekly, Kristin meets with and mentors students from the Young Entrepreneurs Academy as well as tutors Rochester City School students at the Adlai E. Stevenson School No. 29.
