A registered nurse, Elizabeth K. Zorn supports Faraci Lange attorneys in the prosecution of medical malpractice, wrongful death, product liability, labor law, automobile, and other personal injury cases.
A board-certified legal nurse consultant with more than 28 years of experience in the legal field, Elizabeth is an active member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), The American Association for Justice and the Monroe County Bar Association. In April of 2013, Elizabeth was named President of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and she represented the AALNC at a discussion about health care on June 13, 2012, at the White House.
A recognized authority in her field, she has authored an article in the 2015 AALNC’s Journal of Legal Nurse Consulting, titled “In-House Law Firm Legal Nurse Role: 30 Year Perspective” (pg. 26). She is also the author of the chapter “Legal Nurse Consultant Practice Within a Law Firm” in AALNC’s Legal Nurse Consulting Principles and Practice, 2nd (2003) and 3rd (2010) editions. She has also written a module in AALNC’s Legal Nurse Consulting Online Course (2007 & 2010 & 2014) and is the editor of AALNC’s publication “Getting Started in Legal Nurse Consulting” (2009).
Since 2006, Beth has served on numerous national AALNC committees. She has spoken at seminars for the NYS Bar Association (2008) and the Monroe County Bar Association (2009), as well as The University of Rochester’s Legal Nurse Consulting course. She has mentored multiple LNC interns at her law firm over the past 12 years and has also authored articles for AALNC’s The Journal of Legal Nurse Consulting. Beth has also conducted multiple AALNC webinars on Screening and Investigating Medical Malpractice Cases as well as quarterly AALNC webinars entitled “So You Want to Be an LNC?” Beth also spoke at the 2012 AALNC Educational and Networking Forum on Screening Medical Malpractice cases. She is also currently serving on AALNC’s LNC Core Competencies, and Revised Online LNC Course Committees. Since April 2010, Beth has served on the AALNC board of directors.
In 2006, Elizabeth co-founded LNCExchange.com, a legal nurse consulting professional listserv on Yahoo Groups, which has grown to 1700 members nationwide. Its members consist of legal nurse consultants, attorneys, physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician’s assistants, and other health care providers who assist attorneys with medical-legal cases. The group has evolved into a unique networking and educational resource for its members.
Before joining Faraci Lange in 1995, she worked at the law firm of Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle, where she provided medical expertise and research in defense of medical malpractice and other personal injury cases.
Elizabeth attended Vassar College from 1972 to 1974 and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing with high honors from the University of Rochester in 1976. After graduation, she worked for two years as a staff nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital. She later transferred to the hospital’s high-risk obstetrical unit, where she served as nursing manager from 1978 to 1985.
Elizabeth’s extensive experience in the medical-legal field has allowed her to develop an advanced level of knowledge and skills to assist attorneys in the screening and prosecution of medical malpractice, wrongful death, and personal injury claims. Elizabeth has been integrally involved in a number of highly complex medical malpractice and products liability cases since joining Faraci Lange, LLP including the Vioxx litigation, cases involving ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity from prolonged courses of gentamicin, birth injury cases, quadriplegia from improper anesthesia care, nerve injury sustained at the time of epidural injection and hundreds more.
